Summer Jewelry 2018: Fruits, Flamingos, Festival Style

Yeah, it’s summer! Finally. It’s sunny, it’s hot, it’s time for a break. Time to travel somewhere, hang out at the beach or the pool, go to some cool music festivals or concerts, throw a party, enjoy some yummy refreshments, … And definitely time to spice up your summer look with some new summer jewelry.

Summer Jewelry Trend #1: Fruits

What’s more refreshing in this heat than fruit? Jewelry designers must have thought the same, and as a result, there is a wide range of lovely fruit jewelry pieces to choose from. Cherries, strawberries, pineapples, watermelons, and lemons are very popular for summer jewelry.

Luckily, STUDEX makes it easy to get first or additional ear piercings and be in style right from the beginning. With these adorable hypoallergenic piercing studs for their STUDEX System75 ear piercing system, the question is not whether you should have your ears pierced or not, but how many new ear piercings you should get. Combine their cherry, strawberry and flamingo studs with other cute sparklers from their Sensitive by STUDEX earring collection for your next party, barbecue or day at the beach.

Lucky Eyes London features cute cherry, strawberry, pineapple, and apple necklaces in their Fruit Collection. They are made from sterling silver and rose gold vermeil and with Cubic Zirconia.

For a bold and sparkling appearance, French fashion jewelry designer Shourouk Rhaiem has a number of fruity pieces in her collection that really stand out. Her strawberry, cherry, lemon or watermelon earrings are made with Miyuki pearls and/or Swarovski crystals. Shourouk‘s jewelry has been worn by celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lopez, Michelle Obama or Anna Dello Russo.

Summer Jewelry Trend #2: Flamingos and Beach Theme

You probably couldn’t help but notice that the flamingo is omnipresent. After the big unicorn hype, the flamingo followed in the unicorn’s footsteps and has turned into the current trend animal. From flamingo pool floats to clothing and accessories—this pink bird is everywhere. It’s hard to go shopping without passing several store windows with flamingo displays trying to draw your attention.

It’s no big surprise that the flamingo is also a favorite motif for summer jewelry. Flamingos are extremely popular in combination with pineapples and palm trees. These cute necklaces by Blondie’s Designs (@blondiesdesigns) are a perfect example. This designer, located in Jenison, MI, USA, puts her pendants on a stretchy headband. “So little girls can’t break them,” she says. Great idea for all age groups.

Other nice examples of flamingo jewelry are Viventy’s flamingo necklace from their Magic Garden Collection and flamingo charms and pendants by Pandora, Thomas Sabo or Nomination. Betsey Johnson goes flamingo with fancy flamingo pendants, necklaces, earrings, and suitcases. We also spotted a cute Betsey Johnson flamingo purse via Rachel Miriam (@rachiechula).

Other beach-inspired designs are mermaids, seahorses, sand dollars, starfish, shells, or anchors. We love the gorgeous earring creations by Los Angeles-based House of Brevard, founded in 1979 by the late Lee Brevard, especially their Endless Summer Collection. The vintage-looking, handcrafted 18 karat gold (750) or sterling silver charms on 14 karat gold (585) hoops also look great mixed and matched for an individual statement, as presented in the designer’s Mismatched Collection.

Summer Jewelry Trend #3: Festival Style

Symbols that are popular at music festivals and concerts are skulls, peace signs, unicorns, and crosses. Brevard’s Rock’n’Roll Collection features stunning rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets that are simply perfect for artists and music lovers alike. Worn by music legends such as Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Axl Rose (Guns ‘n’ Roses), Stevie Nicks, Bruce Springsteen, Bonjovi, Richie Sambora (Bonjovi), Madonna, Cher, Joni Mitchell, Whitney Houston, Tommy Lee (Mötley Crüe), Brandon Boyd (Incubus), The Pointer Sisters, and many more, Brevard jewelry represents the rock’n’roll lifestyle and L.A. culture like few others.

One of the first designs to come out of Brevard’s studio and still one of their most popular is the iconic Tiny Signature Cross. We also love the Pavé Peace Ring in sterling silver with Cubic Zirconia. It is a cute match for the Two-Tone Acre Necklace, featuring an 18 karat gold (750) Acre Pendant, which combines the Cinq Cross and Eye of Horus design, and a Tiny Only Money Chain in sterling silver and 18 karat gold.

L.A.-born like Brevard, STUDEX also features some festival-style piercing earrings for their STUDEX System75—from skull to unicorn to peace sign. They are the perfect accessory for anyone who wants to stand out in the crowd. These designs look great combined with other Studex earrings, such as stars, hearts, or Fireballs.
